HoRNet MasterTool is a sound processor designed to apply that final touch to your tracks, you can think of it as a mastering robot.
Thanks to our algorithms and some clever intelligence built in the plugin can adapt to almost every music genre, if you are searching for an easy way to fix your tracks and make them sound good MasterTool it’s here to help you, and if you are a podcaster or work with voiceovers, we have also added some special algorithm tweaks to make you happy.
The plugin takes care of fixing frequency spectrum issues in your mix thanks to our frequency unmasking algorithm, then analyzes the dynamic content and using our coherence meter algorithm as feedback it sets a clipper and two different limiters.
The first clipper and the first limiter cut off the peaks increasing the loudness, the second limiter helps in reaching the final level you specify.
Demo limitation
The demo is fully functional except for the fact that every now and then it will silence out, you cannot save parameter values with your session and the plugin will not respond to automation coming from the host.

This plugin is easy to use and it sounds very transparent, especially if it listens to the whole track. The result sounds the same just louder. I tried Ozone but I can often hear artifacts and the whole track may change character, and there are too many parameters to tweak. This one just sets the loudness right and can also help a little with the EQ.
Minor feature request: display unit of measurement for the loudness target (LUFS).

Why didn't I know this plugin earlier??? It saves tons my time! Just use it to do the basic mixing correction in just one minute and then use hardwares to adjust the tone a little bit, Then the whole master is done!!! Wow!
I've had MasterTool 1.1.1 since it fitst came out. I have never had any issues crashing or otherwise. Definitely an needed upgrade. Works perfectly.
If you need to send a quick mixdown/demo to someone and want it loud enough with a little EQ/Limiting, this is ideal. I wouldn't use it as a final mastering tool but its very handy indeed.
This appears to be a fantastic plugin, the automatic leveling and eq I think sound better than my own efforts. However, it has crashed on me twice on the first day of use, Windows 10 / Tracktion Waveform. My whole computer locks up and makes a horrible noise that sounds like a 60 cycle square wave coming through the speakers. Had to hard reset twice. Hoping for a fix since this seems to be a great tool for my mastering process.
What can I say…. it is my favourite Plug in from Hornet. I like it even more than the Magnus MK.
Well in the magnus mk you can turn the knobs and therefor have more control. But the MasterTool does it automaticly and therefore faster. And it uses 2 Limiters. Magnus has just one.
The EQ could be too steril. Than you can turn it down.
It is so fxxxxing easy to use and it does compete with Ozone easily. The MT does not change/modulate too much the Source, I like that!
If you have a great sounding mix that just needs the mastering for the right LUFS you should try the MasterTool.
Believe not me, believe your own ears and try the demo.
First tried V1.1 with Reason12.5 it chrashs after second learn process. When i load up a project direct with MasterTool vst and i still turn the target level not to fast and still stopping the learn process after 30 0000 samples it works stable. Seen overal, it has the ability to bring down the dynamics of your track, with more minus target level it brinmgs down the dynamics/loudness factor, and gives more presence for the mids and highs. Target level between -6 till -9 not working really, but at all it´s a nice plug for dynamic shaping. Glad I´m not given up to get it work propper, I compared it with ozone9 elements, for tame down dynamics, where the izotope plug failed completely, hornets master tool was able to controll grity/scratchy signals fine. Thanks Saverio, maybee a little buggy plug, but brilliant! During my demotrial, update 1.1.1 comes, now target level works from -6 up completly and the learn loop bug is fixed 😉 nice, now it´s a must have for mastering electronic music.
I was really impressed about the capability of this simple plugin.
Delivers results that rival/exceed those of Ozone Pro (in my opinion).
Works perfectly fine with Apple's M1.
Very impressed with this plugin. To my ears it gives better results than Ozone – at a fraction of the cost.
This is a great plugin and very much worth the money. It’s gets a track up to 10 LUFS comfortably and it sounds clear and plays great in other sound systems. I was skeptical about the continuous eq, but it’s quite subtle and very musical. It gives a lot of clarity and boosts the right places to get the song sounding full. Brilliant engineering.

I'm using it in Luna and it glitches as it's doing its auto EQ thing.
A pity, because it's such a good plugin otherwise…

With this new UPDATE the tool is working exactly as it should, congratulations for the great work and attention to your users
I really liked the balancing effect this had on my master bus. That combined with the ease of use make it a no-brainer. But since installing the 1.1 update, any Studio One project I load with this instantiated crashed immediately upon load. (If I remove the VST3 file from the folder it's in, the problem disappears) – Looking forward to being able to use it again at some point.
I like Hornet plugins in general. However, some of them glitch my system (Catalina OS, Macbook Pro 2012, Ableton 11) causing it to freeze like this one, Mastertool. Definitely demo before you buy. Hornet needs to do more cross-platform testing and debugging.

I like hornet plugins, but unfortunately, MasterTool wasn't the automatic Voiceover-sounds-good-Plugin I was hoping for… The EQ's work did not sound very natural to me, and level wasn't consistent either. Maybe some day there's a MkII!? All the best, and thanks for your good work!
Il plugin ha una qualità del suono eccellente testato con alcune tracce house e hip hop/downtempo; sicuramente migliore della qualità degli automated mastering che ci sono a disposizione sul mercato oggi.
Tuttavia ci sono alcuni bug da risolvere come ad esempio il fatto che questo ogni tanto manda in crash la DAW ( nel mio caso Ableton Live 10 ) e che il potenziometro del volume target resta "congelato" dopo avere effettuato il learn e che quindi cambiando volume bisogna effettuare nuovamente il learn.
Inoltre il limiter 1 non entra mai in funzione ed il controllo EQ sembra non dare nessun cambiamento se non sul grafico.
Infine il limiter 2 potrebbe essere un true peak per stare al passo con gli attuali standard
Spero si possa aggiustare tutto questo con i prossimi aggiornamenti…
Merita comunque 5 stelle!
Not experienced any crashes to date, only issue is the real -time adjustment freeze-up…hoping for a update/fix to resolve…apart from that it's working great!!
Tried the demo and no matter which DAW I use, the plugin crashes the session. Everything else on my computer works flawlessly. Windows 10, Intel Core i5 8250U, 24GB Ram, 1TB SSD. Hope this will be resolved as I'm very curious about this plugin.
Just purchased this today and this is the best plugin ever!!! It's better than Izotope and these mastering online services!!! Great job once again!!!
Excellent Plugin, However, A wet/dry mix knob would be well appreciated. Also, the plugin glitches when adjusting the paramenters in real-time. Also, suggest that a video should accompany every new plugin release as I am certain that this will help sales. Also, A LITTLE PRICY FOR HORNET AS THERE ARE SIMILAR PLUGINS THAT CAN ACCOMPLISH THE SAME RESULTS.
I trust this brand, i don't even try the demo. I Just buy.
