Vintage 4 tracks cassette emulator
Step into the realm of vintage recording with HoRNet Cassette644.
In the ever-evolving world of music production, there’s something magical about the analog sound that vintage equipment provides. Many producers and musicians are drawn to the warmth, character, and organic feel of classic recording devices, especially tape recorders. With the advent of digital technology, the magic of those analog machines can sometimes feel lost. However, thanks to modern innovation, you can now recapture the essence of these vintage machines with the HoRNet Cassette644 plugin.
This meticulously crafted cassette emulator plugin faithfully recreates the unmistakable sound and character of a legendary tape recorder. Whether you’re working on a modern mix or paying homage to classic music from the past, HoRNet Cassette644 will help you add that vintage warmth, saturation, and nostalgia that made these machines beloved classics.
The beauty of this plugin lies in its ability to capture the essence of analog tape with precision. If you’ve ever worked with a real cassette deck, you know that there’s a specific magic in how the audio is processed. That richness, that organic warmth, is something that digital equipment often struggles to replicate. With HoRNet Cassette644, you can get a taste of that classic analog sound with all the precision and flexibility of a modern plugin.
Shape your sound with the three-band semi-parametric EQ.
One of the standout features of HoRNet Cassette644 is its three-band semi-parametric EQ, which is modeled after vintage tape recorders. The EQ allows you to dial in the perfect balance of highs, mids, and lows to achieve the desired tonal character for your track. Whether you want to smooth out the high frequencies or boost the low end for added warmth, the EQ offers intuitive control over your sound, allowing you to replicate the feel of an analog tape machine with precision.
Tape recorders from the past often had an inherent EQ curve, which contributed to their signature sound. With HoRNet Cassette644, you’re not just getting a one-size-fits-all emulation—you’re getting the ability to finely adjust the tonal character of your recordings, ensuring you achieve the exact result you’re looking for.
Immerse yourself in the authenticity of tape recording.
The plugin’s true power comes from its ability to emulate different types of cassette tapes. Tape recorders used various types of tapes, each with its own unique sonic characteristics. With HoRNet Cassette644, you can choose from three distinct cassette types—Type I (Normal), Type II (Chrome), and Type IV (Metal). Each of these tape types affects the sound in different ways, and selecting the right one can help you recreate the sound of a specific era or style of recording.
-
Type I (Normal): The standard tape type, offering a more balanced sound with moderate warmth.
-
Type II (Chrome): Known for a cleaner, brighter sound with enhanced high frequencies.
-
Type IV (Metal): The most advanced tape type, offering a full range of dynamics and a powerful, punchy sound.
Each of these tapes provides a different experience when you apply them to your music. Whether you want the warmer, more vintage feel of Type I, the crispness of Type II, or the punch of Type IV, you can recreate the magic of the original machines.
A modern workflow in a cassette emulator.
While HoRNet Cassette644 brings the magic of analog tape recording to your music, it does so with the convenience and functionality of a modern plugin. The interface is intuitive and easy to use, making it simple to integrate into your digital audio workstation (DAW) and adapt it to your existing workflow.
But the features don’t stop there. HoRNet Cassette644 includes advanced controls like the linked input and output, allowing for seamless integration with other plugins in your session. Additionally, the high-quality oversampling feature ensures that you get the best possible results from the plugin, offering a pristine sound without any unwanted artifacts or distortion.
If you’re looking for even more flexibility, you can use the “link” switch to connect every instance of Cassette644 in your session. This allows you to recreate a virtual cassette multitrack setup, just like in the analog days when you would use multiple tape machines to record different parts of a song. This feature brings an extra level of authenticity to your workflow, giving you the freedom to experiment and create the type of sound you’re after.

Everytime I open the cassettee plug in in Logic Pro 10, the program crashes.
Really, really good plugin. To be picky, maybe it’s a little buggy, but nothing serious. However from the point of view of sound performance, it is by far the best emulation I have been able to find. It’s 100 percent worth it
Excellent.
I’ve never used the actual machine. But this is what I imagine tape sounds like.
Smooth, heavy, sweet.
Bought it at a steal price and I feel guilty for having such a valuable plugin for what I paid. The tape emulations are pretty versatile and the gain compensation comes in handy. I often push it with +12db for sensitive drive.
Has a minor interface flaw in Reaper (Windows) which makes it ignore the space bar (play/stop action) when the plugin window is highlighted. Already submitted this to the dev team and hope to update my vote anytime soon.
Not only is this the best cassette tape simulator out there, but it's absolutely perfect for taming the nasty high end of extreme metal "chainsaw" guitars. I've tried many solutions: standard EQing, various low pass filters, de-essers, other tape sims. Cassette644 in low speed chrome mode shaves off exactly what I want while adding a nice, lo-fi flavoured grit. If you record extreme metal and you haven't tried this on your guitars, you're doing yourself a disservice.
It sounds fantastic!
Use it mainly on busses and the master.
Really nice saturation.
Absolute bargain!
Much more useful and interesting than I imagined.
Brilliantly quick to work with. Does exactly what it says on the tin with a great interface.
I tested the way this plugin evens out transients on vocal tracks by driving the input. Very pleased to say that this does just that beautifully. Went and bought it immediately.
You out did yourself on this one! Your able to slam this thing hard and get that pleasing distortion, saturation just like real tape. I watched your youtube short series on the making of the plugin…That sold it for me… other companies need to take notes!
This is a serious sound-shaping tool! On drums (where I have used it so far) it is phenomenal. switch to Chrome tape, carve out those muddy mids, crank the input into saturation and your drums will come to live! There is another tape mixer plugin from a well-known German developer (another model, same hardware brand) but it is very polite sounding. HoRNet's tape mixer is a true colour box! I love it!
On first use, I think a very cool device for the right situation, which can be pretty flexible if you take care.
