We are pleased to announce the release of HoRNet Total EQ v1.3.0, a feature update to our powerful and flexible digital equalizer with analog emulation. This update brings significant enhancements in both functionality and performance, reinforcing Total EQ as one of the most versatile and user-friendly EQ plugins available on the market.

HoRNet Total EQ is a precision equalizer that combines digital accuracy with the warmth and behavior of analog gear. One of its standout features is its intuitive graphical interface, which allows users to control every parameter of each EQ band directly from the frequency response chart. Instead of searching through menus or panels to adjust gain, frequency, or Q, everything can be done right at your mouse pointer’s position. This makes sound shaping faster and far more intuitive, whether you’re mixing, mastering, or sound designing.

In terms of flexibility, Total EQ gives you access to up to 12 fully adjustable EQ bands, each of which can be switched between digital precision mode or analog emulation mode. This dual-character behavior allows for surgical correction when needed, or the warmth and subtle unpredictability of analog behavior when desired. The analog emulation in Total EQ is the most advanced we’ve implemented in any plugin so far. It doesn’t just apply saturation—it also takes into account component tolerances, meaning no two bands behave exactly the same. This results in a slightly varied response between bands, adding depth, warmth, and an organic character that’s more musically pleasing.

Each band can also be assigned one of 17 different filter types, including low pass, high pass, band pass, notch, high shelf, low shelf, and the classic fully parametric peak EQ. These filter types cover virtually every equalization need, from broad tonal shaping to narrow band cuts. Whether you’re sculpting a vocal, removing harshness from cymbals, or enhancing low-end punch in a kick drum, Total EQ provides the tools to get it done.

Beyond static EQ functions, every band in Total EQ also includes dynamic EQ capabilities. Borrowing from the engine of our HoRNet DynEQ, each band features automatic attack, release, and threshold parameters, enabling dynamic behavior that responds to the input signal’s level. This makes dynamic equalization incredibly easy and musical—simply drag the EQ dot on the screen, and the plugin takes care of the dynamics behind the scenes. This integration is ideal for taming harsh frequencies, controlling sibilance, or enhancing musical transients without needing a separate dynamic EQ plugin.

In addition, each EQ band supports Mid/Side (M/S) processing, giving you precise control over the stereo image. You can choose to apply equalization to the mid channel, side channel, or both, making it easy to widen mixes, center low-end frequencies, or isolate stereo effects. This is particularly useful for mastering and for creating spatial effects during mixdowns.

Total EQ also provides a set of global controls that enhance your workflow. You can enable or disable analog emulation and saturation globally, allowing you to instantly switch between clean digital precision and warm analog coloration. The plugin also includes an input/output level linking function, which automatically adjusts the output gain when input gain is changed. This feature makes it easy to drive the analog engine of the plugin for added harmonics without causing unwanted gain boosts or clipping.

On top of its sonic capabilities, Total EQ includes a built-in spectrum analyzer, giving you real-time visual feedback of the frequency content. This helps you see the results of your EQ moves, identify problematic frequencies, and match reference tracks with more precision.

What’s New in Total EQ v1.3.0:

  • Added Apple M1 native support: Total EQ now runs natively on Apple Silicon (M1 and later) systems, improving performance and efficiency for macOS users.

  • Minimum macOS requirement is now 10.11 with Metal graphics support: This update ensures compatibility with modern macOS systems while utilizing GPU acceleration for smoother visual performance.

  • Fixed high CPU usage and crackles with small buffer sizes: We’ve optimized CPU performance to reduce audio artifacts when working with tight buffer settings.

  • Fixed Q text box being editable when no Q parameter is available: Interface behavior is now more consistent and prevents unnecessary confusion.

  • Fixed high gain jumps when exiting solo mode while “EQ Loud” is activated: This fix ensures more stable and predictable behavior during band soloing and gain matching.

  • Fixed bands unselecting when restoring a session with a soloed band: Session recall now preserves your active EQ band selections reliably.

  • Fixed muted bands being unmuted if a band is soloed and then unsoloed: Band mute status is now correctly preserved after soloing operations.

These improvements solidify Total EQ as a top-tier equalizer for both studio and live use. Whether you’re an audio engineer, music producer, or content creator, this plugin gives you powerful tools to sculpt sound with surgical precision or analog warmth—all from a streamlined, easy-to-use interface.

As with all our products, this update is free for existing plugin owners. Awesome! thank you!

Hornet plugins are great plugins, with a fair price, but the customer support in my experience is definitely poor. I bought Total EQ on February: the installation on Logic Pro x failed. I was told to wait for the new release. The installation failed also with the new release (1.3.0). I asked for help 2 weeks ago, but until now no answer….
