We are pleased to announce the release of HoRNet TOTAL EQ version 1.2.2, a maintenance update that enhances stability and functionality for our most flexible and powerful digital equalizer. Designed for audio professionals, producers, and sound designers, HoRNet TOTAL EQ combines surgical precision with analog warmth, offering an all-in-one solution for tonal shaping and frequency control across a wide range of applications.

TOTAL EQ stands out in the crowded EQ plugin landscape thanks to its combination of intuitive visual controls, advanced analog emulation, and a comprehensive feature set tailored to modern music production workflows. Whether you’re mixing, mastering, or sound designing, this plugin provides the tools needed to sculpt sound with clarity and character.

At its core, HoRNet TOTAL EQ includes a built-in real-time spectrum analyzer and a frequency response display that visually reflects the effect of your EQ changes. But what truly sets it apart is the direct graphical control interface. Each EQ band can be adjusted directly from the frequency chart—drag, shape, and refine the EQ curve by simply moving points on the screen. This drag-and-adjust system eliminates the need to search through parameters or menus, streamlining your workflow and making sound shaping faster and more intuitive.

In terms of flexibility, TOTAL EQ offers up to 12 fully customizable EQ bands. Each band can be independently configured to function either as a precise digital equalizer or to take on a more analog-style character. The analog emulation engine is the most sophisticated we’ve implemented so far. It faithfully reproduces the subtle non-linearities of analog hardware, including the effects of component tolerances—minute differences in electronic parts that naturally occur in analog devices. These tolerances result in small variances between bands, making no two behave exactly alike. This adds a layer of organic unpredictability that helps give your sound a more natural, musical quality.

Each EQ band can also be assigned one of 17 different filter types, providing a vast amount of tonal flexibility. Available types include low pass, high pass, band pass, notch, high shelf, low shelf, bell/peak, and other specialty filters. With these options, you can handle anything from subtle tonal shaping to aggressive frequency cuts or boosts, all tailored to your specific needs.

Going a step beyond traditional EQ functionality, HoRNet TOTAL EQ includes dynamic filtering capabilities for each band. Using algorithms from our acclaimed HoRNet DynEQ, the plugin integrates automatic attack, release, and threshold detection. This means each band can respond dynamically to the audio signal, increasing or decreasing its effect based on input levels. Dynamic EQ is ideal for handling resonant frequencies, de-essing, or tone shaping that adapts to the music in real-time. With TOTAL EQ, dynamic control is as simple as dragging a dot, with no need to dive into complex envelopes or modulation settings.

Another standout feature is the support for Mid/Side processing on a per-band basis. You can target either the mid (center) or side (stereo) portions of the signal, allowing for incredibly precise control of your mix’s stereo image. Whether you want to tighten the low end in the center or add shimmer to the sides, TOTAL EQ puts that control directly in your hands.

In addition to per-band controls, the plugin also offers global features for quick and efficient workflow. You can enable or disable analog emulation and saturation across all bands simultaneously with just one switch. This is useful when comparing digital and analog-style behavior, or when you want to quickly bypass coloration for a clean EQ setup. Another helpful feature is the input/output level linking, which ensures that when you adjust the input gain, the output automatically compensates—preserving the overall loudness and making it easier to push the analog engine without skewing your mix levels.

This latest update, version 1.2.2, is focused on improving reliability and fixing several key issues reported by users. These include:

  • Fixed an issue with the solo button in the VST3 version, which caused unexpected behavior in certain DAWs when attempting to isolate a band.

  • Resolved a crash that occurred in Pro Tools when using the solo function, improving compatibility with AAX hosts and ensuring stability during editing.

  • Corrected a bug in Logic Pro X where the EQ curve display would fail to update properly when playback was stopped, which could lead to visual confusion or misrepresentation of the current EQ shape.

  • Fixed a stuck peak display in the spectrum analyzer, which previously caused peak indicators to remain visible even after the signal had dropped—ensuring more accurate real-time monitoring.

These improvements are part of our ongoing effort to make TOTAL EQ not only feature-rich, but also dependable and efficient in real-world production environments.

The 1.2.2 update is available for free to all current owners of the plugin. Users can download it by logging into the user area on our website. If you already use HoRNet DoIn, our integrated plugin download and update manager, you can also get the latest version with a single click.

HoRNet TOTAL EQ is available in Audio Units, VST2.4, VST3, and AAX formats, and is compatible with both macOS (10.9 and later) and Windows (7 and later). It runs as a 64-bit plugin, optimized for modern digital audio workstations and workflows.

With its combination of visual precision, analog feel, dynamic processing, and stereo imaging tools, TOTAL EQ is an indispensable tool for any producer, mix engineer, or mastering technician looking to take full control of their sound. Whether you’re crafting subtle tone adjustments or completely reshaping a track’s frequency balance, TOTAL EQ delivers the performance, sound quality, and flexibility you need.
