Another feature update for our visual parametric equalizer.
We have just updated HoRNet Total EQ, our versatile digital equalizer with advanced analog emulation, to version 1.2.1 — a maintenance release focused on improving stability and refining the user experience.
HoRNet TOTAL EQ is a precision equalizer that combines the accuracy of digital processing with the warmth and unpredictability of analog gear. At its core, Total EQ is designed for flexibility, ease of use, and sound quality, making it a go-to plugin for engineers and producers seeking both control and character in one tool.
One of the key features that sets TOTAL EQ apart is the ability to control every EQ band directly from the frequency graph. This highly interactive interface means that when you want to adjust frequency, gain, or Q, all you need to do is click and drag a point on the chart. There’s no need to dig through menus or hunt for knobs — everything is right under your mouse pointer, making the entire EQ editing process intuitive and efficient.
The plugin supports up to 12 EQ bands, which can be configured freely. Each band can operate in digital mode for clean, transparent EQ, or you can activate the analog emulation to introduce saturation, subtle nonlinearities, and even component tolerance. This is one of the most advanced analog models we’ve ever developed. Rather than simply adding “color,” the analog mode emulates the inherent variations found in analog hardware — meaning each band behaves slightly differently. This introduces a small amount of unpredictability, resulting in a more natural, organic, and musically rich tone that adds depth and dimension to your mixes.
Flexibility is further enhanced by the 17 available filter types for each band. Whether you need a low-pass, high-pass, band-pass, notch, high shelf, low shelf, or a fully parametric peak filter, TOTAL EQ has it covered. You can sculpt the frequency spectrum with surgical precision or use broad, musical strokes depending on your creative needs.
What truly elevates Total EQ is the inclusion of dynamic filter capabilities. Borrowing technology from our acclaimed HoRNet DynEQ, each EQ band can be turned into a dynamic EQ band, reacting automatically to the input signal level. The plugin handles attack, release, and threshold automatically, simplifying dynamic equalization to a simple drag-and-drop workflow. This lets you control harsh frequencies only when they become a problem or boost key elements when they’re too soft, all in real time, and without the need for external sidechaining or routing.
In addition, Mid/Side processing is available on every band. This allows you to control the stereo image of your track with precision — for instance, you might want to apply a high-frequency boost only to the side channels to widen a pad, or clean up low-end rumble in the mid channel to keep your bass tight and centered. Having per-band Mid/Side control offers a high level of stereo flexibility, which is increasingly important in modern production.
TOTAL EQ also includes global controls to simplify your workflow. You can toggle analog saturation on or off for all bands at once, link input and output gain, and enable automatic level compensation so your mix doesn’t get louder or quieter as you make changes — especially useful when pushing the analog engine for harmonic color without distorting the overall level of the track.
To aid precision, TOTAL EQ includes a spectrum analyzer built right into the interface. This real-time visual feedback helps guide your decisions by letting you see exactly where adjustments are needed — whether you’re taming resonant frequencies, carving out space for vocals, or enhancing tonal balance. The analyzer makes EQ decisions both faster and more effective.
The newly released version 1.2.1 is a free update for existing owners and includes several important fixes and refinements. The update focuses on improving the plugin’s stability across all platforms and DAWs. Specifically, we addressed an issue where the mute button was not working correctly in VST3 format. This bug has now been fixed, and overall plugin performance has been improved to ensure a smoother, more reliable experience.
You can download the update directly from the user area on our website or by using HoRNet DoIn, our dedicated installer and update manager. As always, the update is free for registered users of the plugin.
Whether you’re mixing a full song, mastering a final track, or just shaping the sound of a single instrument, HoRNet TOTAL EQ provides the tools you need. With its unique combination of powerful digital precision, authentic analog feel, dynamic EQ, and Mid/Side capabilities, it’s a truly comprehensive equalization solution. Thanks to its intuitive interface, even advanced features are easy to use, helping you stay focused on your music instead of the technology.
