HoRNet MasterTool v1.1.1: Smarter Automatic Mastering

We’ve just released an update for HoRNet MasterTool, our intelligent automatic mastering plugin designed to finalize your audio with precision and speed. More than just a mastering assistant, MasterTool functions like an auto mastering robot—analyzing, adapting, and enhancing your tracks with minimal user input and maximum sonic impact.

MasterTool is built for a wide range of applications, from music production across genres to voiceover and podcast processing. Its core strength lies in its ability to automatically analyze audio characteristics and apply the right processing chain based on the needs of the material. This makes it especially useful for producers, content creators, and engineers looking to achieve professional-level results quickly.

At the core of MasterTool is a multi-stage process designed to handle every aspect of mastering. The plugin begins by addressing frequency balance through a sophisticated frequency unmasking algorithm. This algorithm corrects overlapping frequency ranges, ensuring that no part of the mix is obscured by competing elements. The result is a clearer and more balanced spectral image.

Once the frequency domain is optimized, the plugin analyzes the dynamic content of your track. This step relies on our proprietary coherence meter algorithm, which evaluates the relationship between peak and RMS levels to determine the most suitable dynamics processing. Based on this feedback, MasterTool applies a clipper and two limiters in sequence.

The first stage combines clipping and limiting to manage peaks efficiently and increase loudness without compromising clarity. By gently trimming transients and immediately following up with limiting, the plugin avoids harsh artifacts and delivers a more natural loudness enhancement. The second limiter then applies final gain control, carefully adjusting the output level to meet loudness standards and providing a polished, broadcast-ready result.

To achieve this intelligent behavior, MasterTool requires a learning phase. When first inserted on a track, the user must press the “Learn” button to initiate analysis. During this process, the plugin scans the incoming audio to capture detailed information about its frequency distribution, loudness, and dynamic range. This data is then used to tailor the internal processing chain for the specific content at hand.

Once the learning phase is complete, pressing the “Learn” button again halts analysis and locks in the optimal settings. From this point onward, MasterTool processes your audio based on this internal model. However, the plugin remains dynamically responsive—any adjustment made to its parameters triggers a real-time re-evaluation of the processing algorithm. This ensures that changes are always reflected in the overall mastering behavior, maintaining consistency across the track.

MasterTool offers a streamlined user interface designed for speed and usability. Despite the complexity of what happens behind the scenes, users are presented with an intuitive layout that minimizes confusion and maximizes efficiency. Every control is designed to make sense in a musical context, letting you tweak without second-guessing technical details.

The recent v1.1.1 update is a feature release focused on stability and usability enhancements. Specifically, the update addresses:

  • Resolved an issue that could lead to an endless loop during the model update process, improving reliability during parameter adjustments.

  • Fixed a crash that occurred when reopening older project files on Windows, ensuring better compatibility with past sessions.

  • Removed shadow rendering in the graphical interface to improve GUI compatibility, especially on systems with limited graphic support or older GPUs.

These fixes contribute to a smoother user experience and reinforce MasterTool’s position as a reliable solution for fast, effective mastering.

Existing users can download the v1.1.1 update for free from the user area on the HoRNet website. As always, HoRNet remains committed to providing professional audio tools at accessible prices, with constant improvements based on real-world feedback.

Whether you’re finalizing a track for release, preparing a podcast episode, or cleaning up a dialogue stem, MasterTool brings together the essential steps of mastering—EQ correction, dynamic optimization, and loudness control—into a single, intelligent workflow. Its adaptive algorithms, real-time processing model, and streamlined design make it an indispensable plugin for anyone seeking consistent, high-quality masters with minimal effort.

With version 1.1.1, MasterTool becomes even more robust, offering enhanced compatibility and performance. It reflects HoRNet’s ongoing dedication to building tools that solve real-world audio problems through intelligent processing and efficient design.

In an industry where speed, quality, and adaptability matter, HoRNet MasterTool stands out as a powerful yet accessible mastering solution—an automated processor with professional ears.

This thing is great.
I have been using Brainworx Masterdesk for a while and having various problems.
Previously I wrote a review here agreeing with another reviewer that this plugin was glitchy. Ha! No it isn't. I've just made a "master" using it and it's very clean.
In fact, it's the best master I've managed to make so far.
Currently, I'm thinking that this thing is GREAT!
I use Luna. I put it on the final mix track after a little bit of Gulfoss and some UAD tape.
Thanks!!
