The HoRNet ChannelStrip MK3 is a versatile plugin designed for everyday use. We specifically created a tool that you can place on every channel, providing both one EQ and two dynamics processors. This powerful combination gives you everything you need to achieve a smooth, balanced mix.
In addition to the Equalizer and Dynamics sections, the ChannelStrip MK3 also offers several advanced features:
- Six different signal path routings (e.g., Expander -> EQ -> compressor for a typical drum setup, or EQ -> FET compressor -> OPTO compressor for a typical vocal setup)
- Analog emulation that not only adds saturation (each model has a unique saturation type) but also introduces other non-linearities
- Oversampling where it matters most. Each model uses a different oversampling level when this option is activated, ensuring the plugin uses the least amount of CPU while still delivering maximum quality
- Effective metering: every module includes its own input and output meter along with level trim. Since we built everything around analog models, we chose VU Meters instead of peak meters to provide more relevant feedback
- Input and output peak meters for situations where you need to monitor the signal’s maximum peak
- Automatic gain staging, ensuring that the plugin always receives the optimal level for its internal analog engine
The HoRNet ChannelStrip MK3 also features a single equalizer with a smooth, refined tone. It not only provides the classic controls of a large console EQ but also includes some finely tuned EQ curves for added precision. Specifically, the EQ section of ChannelStrip MK3 includes:
- High-pass and low-pass filters
- A high shelf inspired by the one found in a famous large console
- A low shelf modeled after the distinctive response of a well-known passive EQ
- Three parametric bands with a wide Q range, perfect for both tone shaping and more surgical filtering
Moreover, we included two dynamics processors in ChannelStrip MK3, providing you with the flexibility to compress as much as needed. Each dynamics module features four distinct compression models, each emulating a specific analog characteristic:
- VCA: Inspired by standard console compressors, it offers versatile, solid-state feed-forward compression
- FET: Modeled after fast vintage FET units, this feedback compressor can be extremely aggressive
- OPTO: Modeled after a renowned tube limiter, this feed-forward compressor delivers a smooth response
- Expander: Functions as a traditional gate/expander, based on a VCA design
The new 3.1.4 version is a maintenance release and includes:
- Fixed auto input and output not working on WaveLab.
- Prevent auto input and output from being active when you restore a session to avoid messing gain staging.
